Your generosity changes the world.

Before UMass Boston

My job was not allowing me to fully use my talents. Completing my degree—begun years ago—would help me realize my potential and lead to a career that would enable me to help people. As an older student, I was nervous about returning to college.

At UMass Boston

From day one I felt welcome and part of an empowering community where professors have passion for knowledge and teaching. A service-learning trip to a Native American reservation strengthened my desire to serve those who have limited access to social services.

"At 32 years old, I never dreamed I would complete college, no less get A’s. My studies and community engagement have convinced me that my knowledge, skills, and social advocacy can transform the lives of those facing adversity."

College of Liberal Arts
Major: Psychology

Clements became inspired to advocate for populations who have little access to social services, such as the Lakota Oglala Native Americans she met through a service-learning experience in South Dakota.

After UMass Boston

Graduate study will deepen my skills in social advocacy, especially for people with psychological disorders. I hope to provide free services for low-income families and military vets who suffer from conditions such as autism and post-traumatic stress disorder.
